SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE CONTACT 256-883-3783 with the animal identification number provided. Huntsville Animal Services 4950 Triana Blvd Huntsville, AL 35805 PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT INFO BELOW (your question may be answered here) This page is largely volunteer operated. We use our own time to visit the shelter, take pictures and post them to this page. With that said, the above information may be the only information we have available for this animal as we do not like to get in the way of the shelter staff to ask a lot of questions on every single animal. Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every dog you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive toward adults. As far as child or cat aggression, that is not a standard test that can be performed on every animal. If you are concerned about either aggression, it is suggested that you visit the shelter in person and ask a shelter attendant for assistance. We do allow you to bring pets in to see if they get along before adopting, and if you elect to do so, make sure your pet(s) are COMPLETELY up to date on vaccinations, especially bordatella (kennel cough). ADOPTION FEES Cats seven months and older are currently $35 as a special Spring and Summer promotion that includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, feline AIDS/LEUKEMIA test, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. Kittens six months and younger are $50. Dogs are $35 for adults, $50 for puppies. This includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, canine heart worm test over six months of age, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. LICENSE FEES $35 - Lifetime license not included in the adoption fee PER CITY ORDINANCE, DOMESTIC ANIMALS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A CITY LICENSE TAG WHILE RESIDING IN THE CITY LIMITS OF HUNTSVILLE. It is recommended and the responsibility of the adopter to put their new pet on their choice of heart worm and flea/tick prevention within 30 days of adoption in order to ensure a happy and healthy pet. SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS ABOUT THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE CALL OR VISIT THE SHELTER. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-03-11-00655Ruby (female)|
Ruby is an excellent dog. I adopted her several years ago and have had a very difficult time bringing her into my home with an older Great Dane. Ruby, a redbone bloodhound, was given up because she was spayed and they believed that she could not hunt. I have done my very best with her and even taken her to the pound, only to bring her back. She was put on a shock collar while living on many acres and I believe she had to fight for her food. Ruby can be a wonderful dog and has been 85% of the time. I just want a better home for her. I'm a teacher at a Catholic School, my husband is military and the kids are gone all day. she is very, very food aggressive and that is the only time that we have issues. She would be best as an only dog. She is great with cats but not especially with kids. My son said that he wants a place where she will not be abused but be loved. My son worries about her and wants her to be in a super happy home. We love her and only want the best for her. (Less)

Bo is super sweet. He loves to give hugs and kisses. I've only had him for 4 months now. I got him when we were about to be moving I to a big house with a yard and it didn't work out.. So he is going crazy in our little apartment. He is super good with kids and most other dogs, just not too many at once. When I got him fronted human society they told me he was abused so he is a little skidish, but he is super sweet. Just trying to find him a good family that would take good care of him!

Bloodhound Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. Bloodhounds are extremely good natured dogs that are exceptionally patient and gentle with children. Bloodhounds love affection and attention. Bloodhounds have a stubborn streak and a mind of their own; they need firm training and discipline. Bloodhounds are friendly and devoted to their masters. Bloodhounds are prized for their ability to follow any scent; this makes them likely to wander off if not kept on a leash. Bloodhounds need daily exercise but are fairly laid back indoors and so do okay in an apartment as long as they have regular opportunities to be active and take walks.
